Skip Call Menus

It's true, we all get annoyed at navigating those thick call menus when we just want to talk to a customer service representative from a particular company. Did you know that you can program your phone to navigate these menus automatically?

How does it work?

It's a matter of going through the call menu for a specific company, noting the options, and programing your phone's dialer to automatically press the right key at the right time in order to get to your desired option (in our case, a human customer service representative). Basically, you make the call and record all the numbers you had to press in the same order.

Important!

Take note of the length of the wait time before the next option is read. Some call menus have huge wait times between certain options and any numbers pressed during that time won't be registered, or even worse, it restarts the reading of the option. So, based on that, we would need to tell our dialer to wait the required seconds before pressing the next number in those instances.

In your dialer, entering a comma is how you tell it to wait before pressing the next number in the sequence. If you long press the Star Key on your dialer, it will enter a comma (might not work as the first character).

1 comma = 2 seconds of waiting.
2 commas = 4 seconds of waiting.
3 commas = 6 seconds of waiting.
etc...

One place in which you would always use at least one comma is just after the contact number.

Here is an example:

A company's customer service number is 999-999-9999, so you dial 999-999-9999. When the call is connected, it says "If you are calling about mobile services, press 1, So, you press 1. Then it says " to speak with a representative, press 0, so, you press 0. At this point, you know that you are now in the queue waiting to be answered.

The final sequence in this example would be 999-999-9999,10. which can also be written as 9999999999,10. If you now call this sequence, your dialer will automatically navigate through the call menu.

Keep in Mind!

You can save a sequence in your contacts for future needs; however, if that company changes their call menu options, you may need to redo the process.

Human Now App

This app isn't needed to do anything described above. What it does is give you access to the developer's picks, which are a few sequences to call specific companies that are deemed to have thick and/or complicated call menus as well as high volume traffic. These are updated regularly, and you get the benefit of not having to maintain these yourself.
